Our Story

Gentle Herd was founded with a simple belief: that everyday luxury should not come at the cost of the planet, the people who make it, or the animals who provide its fibers. We specialize in Mongolian cashmere, fine wool, and mulberry silk — natural materials chosen for their warmth, durability, and ability to last for years rather than seasons.

Our Materials

We work directly with herders and spinners in Inner Mongolia, where cashmere goats roam freely across high-altitude grasslands. The cold winters there produce the longest, finest fibers — the kind that stay soft after years of wear instead of pilling and breaking down. Our wool comes from established mills with verified animal welfare practices, and our silk is reeled from mulberry-fed cocoons in Zhejiang.

Why Sustainable

Fast fashion produces 92 million tons of textile waste a year. We design for the opposite: pieces meant to be worn through every season for many years, in classic silhouettes that don't go out of style. Each garment we ship is a vote for less waste, better wages along the supply chain, and a closet built around quality, not quantity.
